WSLS-TV ANNUAL CARLIN CHRONICLES FISHING PICTURE COMPETITION

OFFICIAL CONTEST RULES
1. No purchase is necessary.
2. No age restrictions, however, Participants under the age of eighteen (13) must have a legal guardian or a parent’s written consent to enter and/or to win, and a participant must be a legal resident of Virginia at the time of entry to win.
3. This Contest is subject to all federal, state and local laws. Void where prohibited by law. By entering, participants agree to these Official Rules.
4. There are two (2) categories to participate: one (1) category for adults thirteen (13) and over and one (1) category for children, twelve (12) and under. Two (2) Grand Prize Winners, one (1) adult and one (1) child.
5. Only one (1) entry per household
6. Contest begins on May 26, 2008 and ends on October 3rd, 2008.
7. The geographic scope of this promotion is the Commonwealth of Virginia. The Sponsor of this Contest is Media General Operations, Inc. d/b/a WSLS-TV.
8. Overall likelihood of being chosen as one of the ten (10) Semi-finalists from each category will be based upon the subjective evaluation of entries based upon the criteria set forth in these Official Rules. Judging will be conducted by WSLS-TV. The odds of being a Grand Prize Winner from each category depend on the number of votes each semi-finalist from each category receives from the WSLS-TV audience.

PRIZES
9. Description of prizes: One (1) Grand Prize Winner for ages 12 and under (Children) and one (1) Grand Prize Winner for ages 13 and over (Adult). The winner from each category will a WSLS-TV Merchandise package, which includes one (1) t-shirt, one (1) mug, one (1) pen, and one (1) umbrella. The current retail value of each package is $120. Other prizes may be added at a later date.
10. All federal, state and other taxes relating to any prize, and any travel, hotel accommodations or other expenses relating to any prize, are the sole responsibility of the winners.
11. Prizes are not transferable, substitutable, or exchangeable for cash except that WSLS-TV in its discretion may substitute a prize of equal or greater value. Any such changes will be announced. If any of the winners fail to meet any eligibility requirement herein, alternate winners will be chosen by random drawing to be held as soon as reasonably practicable after initial winners are determined to be ineligible. Alternate winners are subject to all eligibility requirements and restrictions of these Official Rules.

ELIGIBILITY
12. No purchase necessary.
13. No age restrictions, however, a participant must have parental consent (if under 13) and be a legal resident of Virginia at the time of entry.
14. Employees of WSLS-TV, Media General Operations, Inc. and of the affiliates, subsidiaries, distributors, suppliers, franchisees, promoters, and agents of any of these, and the immediate families of the employees of any of these, are not eligible.

TO ENTER
15. There are two ways to enter:

A. Send a non-returnable photograph (any size photograph) that shows a fishing-related activity with the following information: 1) Name, 2) Address, 3) Telephone Number, and 4) Age, to Carlin Chronicles Fishing Photo Contest c/o WSLS-TV, P.O. Box 10, Roanoke, VA 24022. Participants under the age of thirteen (13) must have a legal guardian or a parent’s written consent to enter and/or to win.
B. Send an e-mail to news@wsls.com, attaching a photograph that shows a fishing-related activity with the following information: 1) Name, 2) Address, 3) Telephone Number, and 4) Age. <b> Please note: If you are age thirteen (13) and under you will need a legal guardian or parental consent to enter online and submit the photograph by e-mail as stated in WSLS’ Online Privacy Policy located at www.wsls.com. A parental consent form will be available from WSLS.com website to be used for online contest submission by a child under thirteen (13) years of age and can be faxed to 540-343-2059 OR a minor can mail in the photo.</b>
16. The photograph must be taken between the dates of May 26, 2008 through September 1, 2008. The photographs may be shown on WSLS 10 at the discretion of WSLS staff. All photos will be posted to the WSLS Fishing Photos Gallery on our website. To be eligible to win, entries must be received by September 1, 2008 no later than 5:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. Photographs and entries become the property of WSLS.
17. Participants who fail to provide the required information will not be notified by WSLS-TV.
18. WSLS judges will select ten (10) semi-finalists from the children’s category and ten (10) semi-finalists from the adult category. Judges will vote on the overall impact of the photograph which will be judged on the following criteria: (1) creativity, (2) artistic value, (3) size of the fish, and (4) the character and demeanor of the fisherman. Each category of all of the Semi-Finalists’ photos will be placed on-line for viewing.
19. To pick a grand prize winner for the adult or the child category, WSLS-TV viewers must go to www.wsls.com and must follow the prompts to vote online for their favorite photograph for one (1) of the Grand Prize Winners beginning September 8, 2008, at 12:00 a.m. EST and ending on October 3, 2008 at 4:00 p.m. EST.
20. For online voting for the Grand Prize Winners there shall be no multiple commercial electronic mail messages to vote for any of the Finalists; Only one (1) vote per IP Address.
21. The Semi-Finalist from each category receiving the most votes will be the Grand Prize Winners. Grand Prize Winners will be announced on October 3, 2008 during the 6:00 p.m. WSLS-TV Channel 10 News.
22. If WSLS-TV selects your name as a Grand Prize Winner, WSLS-TV will contact you in accordance with the information you supplied to WSLS-TV. Grand Prize Winners may be verified over the telephone at the time and will be asked to come to WSLS-TV, 401 Third Street, Roanoke, VA, 24011-1552, where each Grand Prize Winner must provide WSLS-TV valid identification and execute an affidavit of eligibility. Identification includes a valid driver’s license or other valid picture ID showing name and address. Faxes will not be accepted. The Grand Prize Winner may also be required to sign other legal documents, including tax forms and a release supplied by WSLS-TV, which, among other disclaimers, releases WSLS-TV, Media General Operations, Inc., and a range of subsidiaries, directors, agents, agencies, affiliates, franchisees, promoters, officers, directors, employees and related persons from any and all liability related to this Contest and the receipt and use of the prize. The information contained on the entry form or postcard becomes the property of WSLS-TV. The verified Grand Prize Winner may pick up their prizes at WSLS-TV, 401 Third Street, Roanoke, VA, 24011-1552. If WSLS-TV is unable to speak directly to a Grand Prize Winner within five (5) days from initial attempted notification, WSLS-TV in its sole discretion may disqualify that Grand Prize Winner and select an alternate winner or remove the prize from the Contest.
23. WSLS-TV, Media General Operations, Inc., their affiliates, subsidiaries or agencies will not be responsible for the inability to select winners because of postal failure, equipment failure, or data storage failure.

MISCELLANEOUS
24. All federal, state and local laws apply. Sponsors shall be entitled to interpret these rules as needed — including but not limited to rules regarding entries, selection of winner, deadlines, restrictions on prizes, and eligibility — and all of their decisions are final. By entering, participants agree to these Official Rules. WSLS-TV reserves the right to cancel, terminate or suspend this Contest or any part of this Contest should any non-authorized intervention, network failure, information storage failure, telecommunications failure, malfunction, or other causes beyond its control, corrupt or impair the security, administration, fairness and/or operation of this Contest as determined by WSLS-TV in its sole discretion. WSLS-TV and Media General Operations, Inc. are not responsible for lost, interrupted, or unavailable network, server, or other connections, or for any failed telephone or computer hardware or software, or for any failed, delayed, misdirected, corrupted, or garbled transmissions or errors of any kind, whether human, mechanical, or electronic, or for entries that for any reason are not received by WSLS-TV by the deadline stated above. WSLS-TV and Media General Operations, Inc. are also not responsible for any injury or damage to any computer, modem or other electrical device as a result of participation in this Contest or downloading of any software or materials.
25. For a list of winners, send a self-addressed stamped envelope by mail to: “Carlin Chronicles Fishing Photo Contest Winners,” c/o WSLS-TV, P.O. Box 10, Roanoke, VA 24022 after October 6, 2008.

27. By winning, contestants agree to award Sponsors the right to publicize their names, photographs (including the use and appearance of winner's photograph on Sponsors’ web pages), likenesses, biographical information, e-mail address, voices and details of winning for purposes of this and future promotions without further compensation.
28. Any person attempting to defraud or tamper with this Contest in any way will be ineligible for prizes and may be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.
29.
